 Week # 1     Quiz:

1. Paul the apostle referred to this man as "the beloved physician."

A. Luke

B. Linnaeus

C. Laodiceus

D. Doctor J

2. Complete the Biblical proverb: "Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the LORD and depart from evil. It will be  to your flesh, andto your bones.

3. T or F: Cancer does not rear its ugly head in the Bible.

The Bible does not say anything specifically about the disease of cancer. However, that does not mean that it does not address the issue of diseases. King Hezekiah was sick from a "boil" (2 Kings 20:6–8), which could have in reality been cancer under a different name. So, although the word cancer is not in Scripture, there are conditions described that could very well have been cancer. When Jesus was on earth, He healed all the diseases that were brought to Him (obviously, that could include cancer) as a sign to the Jews that He was their Messiah. However, cancer—like all disease—is a result of the curse of sin upon the world. In Genesis 3:17 we read, "Cursed is the ground for thy sake." The word translated "ground" is better translated "earth."  My answer would be I am not sure!

According to this study: Questions:

1).     Is God sovereign or do we have a free will?

God is sovereign, and He gave us a free will from the beginning, but sin came in. We have a free will to choose (Revelation 19:6) (I Chronicles 29:12; Psalm 62:11; Romans 16:25. When we were saved and accepted Jesus, His life, nature, and ability came into our lives. This scripture let us know God is sovereign over us, and in us. (Philippians 2:13). "For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure." This is called spiritual renewal. We do have a free will to choose now that we are forgiven and renewed in our spirit, mind, and body.

2).     What part of man is bound by sin?

That is a part of question one answer, amen. Our nature is bound by sin before we are born-again in our nature by the Spirit of God. It is the original nature that is bound by sin.

3).     Why did God choose to save us the way He did?

God choose to save us, because it was "according to the good pleasure of His will, to the praise of the glory of His grace" (Ephesians 1:5-6). It's important to understand that the plan of salvation is designed to glorify God, not man.
